Queen Rider
Simba TVS promotes Women’s Empowerment in Nigeria through the Queen Riders program. The program was established to teach women from under-represented backgrounds how to safely ride and repair tricycles, enabling them to partake in the industry and increase their families’ disposable incomes. In collaboration with The Simba Training School, we conduct advanced courses in tricycle repair and maintenance in addition to the riding programs.
The Queen Riders program also collaborates with other NGOs who work to promote Women’s Empowerment including the Five Cowries Foundation, and with notable celebrities and industry participants committed to the cause. Among them are Nollywood Star, Chioma Akpotha who has long supported the program and industry participants such as “Mama Keke” and the Cedar Microfinance Bank who work with Simba TVS to provide graduates of the program an ecosystem that is led by women, for women, in the industry. In celebration of International Women’s Day in 2020, Simba TVS hosted a unique event where graduates of the Queen Riders Program painted tricycles under the guidance of the Five Cowries’ Arts Education Initiative.
